Week 1 Against the Spread: 7-2

Utah vs Southern Utah

Utah suffered a disappointing week one loss to Florida in a hard fought game in the Swamp. The Gators will likely be tired and bruised this week so it will be a good chance to get some play for their backups against Southern Utah. Expect the Utes to come out a little sluggish in the first quarter before coasting to a victory.

Prediction: Utah 42 vs Southern Utah 10

WSU at #19 Wisconsin

Betting Line: Wisconsin 17.5

The Cougs were nearly upset by FCS Idaho last weekend in what could have been a disastrous debut for new WSU QB Cam Ward. The competition gets tougher this week as Jake Dickert's squad must travel across the country to Madison to take on a top 20 opponent. The Badgers' defense ranked 4th in the country last season and shut out Illinois State in week 1 of the 2022 campaign. This will be tough sledding for the Cougs and their defense must play their A game to keep them in it.

Prediction: Wisconsin 31 vs WSU 17

Colorado at Air Force

Betting Line: Air Force -18

This is looking like another rough season for the Buffs as they fell 38-13 to TCU last weekend. Air Force knows how to grind out wins and with their long grueling drives, the Colorado offense won't have many opportunities to score in this one.

Prediction: Air Force 31 vs Colorado 20

Cal vs UNLV

Betting Line: Cal -12

UNLV feels like a program on the rise in Marcus Arroyo's 3rd season. The Golden Bears on the other hand still feel like a program with good defense and mediocre offense. This will be a solid test for Cal before they play #8 Notre Dame next weekend.

Prediction: Cal 35 vs UNLV 21

Washington vs Portland State

Michael Penix Jr. and the Huskies wowed the West Coast with their offensive display against Kent State. The scheme was light years better than last season's offense in Seattle and it was nice to see wide receivers running wide open. Portland State has a talented dual threat quarterback in Dante Chachere who threw for 270 yards and rushed for 83 in a near upset of San Jose State last weekend. Despite Chachere's heroics, UW should roll in this one as they prepare to host Michigan State next weekend.

Prediction: Washington 52 vs Portland State 21

UCLA vs Alabama State

Another week, another big win for the Bruins and Chip Kelly. No need to overthink this one as UCLA should have it wrapped up by the end of the 1st quarter.

Prediction: UCLA 59 vs Alabama State 14

#10 USC at Stanford

Betting Line: USC -8.5

This game has a lot of potential. Two stellar quarterbacks in Tanner McKee and Caleb Williams will go at it in a pivotal game for the Trojans as they look to continue their resurgence. USC's offense should have a slight edge in this one but David Shaw and Stanford will give them all they can handle.

Prediction: USC 34 vs Stanford 24

Arizona State at #11 Oklahoma State

Betting Line: Oklahoma State -11.5

Arizona State looked better than some may have expected in a dominant 40-3 win over Northern Arizona. The defense looks legit and the run game is in good hands with Xazavian Valladay leading the charge. Oklahoma State's defense looked leaky against Central Michigan while giving up 44 points so this could be a sneaky good game.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 37 vs Arizona State 30

Oregon vs Eastern Washington

After an ugly loss, the Ducks get an FCS program to get back on track. The Eagles, however, are no push over and have the offense to keep things interesting for awhile. In the end, the Oregon run game takes over and leads to a big win.

Prediction: Oregon 44 vs Eastern Washington 27

Oregon State at Fresno State

Betting Line: OSU -1

This one has a ton of potential. If you're looking for fun football, this will be your game. Gunslinger, Jake Haener, leads a feisty Fresno squad that's looking for another big Pac-12 win after taking down UCLA last Fall. On the other sideline, the Beavers are well coached and trounced Boise State in week one. This will come down to the wire.

Prediction: Oregon State 37 vs Fresno State 34

Arizona vs Mississippi State

Betting Line: Miss State -10.5

Arizona was one of the more impressive teams in the opening weekend as they dominated a San Diego State program that won 12 games in 2021. Jayden de Laura and Jacob Cowing look like a dangerous combo that should give Mike Leach's team fits. The Wildcats will face a much tougher test on defense this week as the Bulldogs will air it out and rack up yardage. The Arizona heat and crowd should make this a close game that will be decided late in the 4th quarter.

Prediction: Miss State 34 vs Arizona 30

#21 BYU vs #9 Baylor

Betting Line: BYU -3

People around the country should be tuning in for this one. Two top 25 teams will go at it and the BYU crowd should make things difficult for the always fun Baylor offense. In the end, the crowd noise and home field advantage should be just enough for the Cougars to pull out a huge win.

Prediction: BYU 31 vs Baylor 27
